T1
447 Disability and infirmity
My client is a resident of Manitoba and has a dependant for whom the amount for disabled dependants born in 1998 or earlier is claimed on line 8 of the provincial Schedule MB428-A. The number of disabled dependants indicated on this line is doubled, which doubles the amount of credit claimed. Is this correct? No. The number of disabled dependants should not be doubled. This error occurs when the taxpayer has both a spouse or common-law partner and a dependant age 18 or older who is infirm, and a mailing address is entered in the file of this dependant. As a workaround, please add the keyword Transfer-OV in the dependant's file, and select the federal option "T1 – Amount for infirm dependants age 18 or older (F306)". Then, in the keyword Claim-By , select the appropriate person. |
